The hair scare has now reached Nalasopara, where locals are in a state of panic after a 'ghost' chopped off a 16-year-old's hair while she was asleep. Earlier this week, three similar incidents were reported in Bhiwandi, sparking viral messages on WhatsApp about evil forces looking for long hair for occult practices.

"At 3.30 am on Sunday, my daughter woke up to study, but screamed and fell unconscious when she saw that someone had chopped off her hair," said the victim's mother.

Savitri Dube, a neighbour, said, "We are planning to conduct a pooja in our house to ward off any evil forces. We now cover our hair with cotton or plastic to protect it."

Kishor Khairnar, senior inspector, Nalasopara police, said, "We have received a complaint about hair chopping. Investigations are on."
The incidents where women's hair was cut off when they were sleeping at night were reported in Uttar Pradesh and now it seems that similar incidents have now been reported near Mumbai.
