According to the Nallasopara police, Ambala Devnath (27) received the ransom call around 7 pm yesterday. The caller said that his son, Prakash (7), had been kidnapped and demanded R1.5 lakh to free him. The accused asked him to get the money to Borivli station, without informing the police.

Devnath immediately rushed to the residence in Sai Shraddha building in Nallasopara, and saw his wife Gatki Singh Garodar (25) lying dead, with blood coming out of her mouth. Ambala fell unconscious. After some time, when a neighbour came to the house, he saw Ambala and his wife lying on the ground and immediately informed the Nallasopara police.

When police officials reached the spot, they conducted a panchnama and sent the body for post-mortem. Initial reports have revealed that Gatki was strangled to death. “We are trying to find out who abducted the child. We have made teams to investigate the case and can’t reveal more details at this point,” said a police officer.
