Bending towards art She says that &ldquo;barring a children&rsquo;s art contest as a child&rdquo; she has won nothing in the field. However, one of the city's most popular yoga instructors, Shameem Akhtar picked up the paintbrush more seriously last November and, now, paints almost daily.

Akhtar, who has authored three books on yoga, has turned an artist, having put up her paintings on the online auction site Saatchi, where she registered as an artist over this weekend. Speaking to this diarist, Akhtar says, she got a boost when paintings, which were lying around at her studio got picked up by one of her students in January.
&ldquo;It was lovely to have a connection with someone else through my painting. It was as if they saw what I saw&hellip;and it felt like we were connected in a lovely loop of creative energy,&rdquo; she adds. And, in case you&rsquo;re keen to have a dekko at her other works, catch 100 rock paintings, which will be exhibited later this month at her Bandra studio.

Calling FTII the breeding ground of many filmmakers, cinematographers, editors and award-winning personalities, Kapoor feels that it is necessary that the students&rsquo; grievances are heard. The Kapoor boy has his heart in the right place.
