A 27-year-old female from Mumbai's Kurla suburb succumbed to swine flu on Wednesday, taking the death toll from the disease in the city to 23.
Since January 19, 23 people have lost their lives in Mumbai hospitals to swine flu with 959 Mumbaikars have been tested positive with swine flu.
The woman who lost her life on March 11 was admitted to Care Hospital on March 7 and subsequently shifted to Sion hospital the very next day, where she succumbed to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) along with H1N1 pneumonia.
Out of the 41 patients who have tested positive for H1N1 on March 11, five were admitted to city hospitals treated, while the rest were being treated on OPD basis. The patients admitted to the hospitals are said to be stable.
While eight Mumbaikars have died due to H1N1, 15 patients, who had come to the city for treatment, have lost their lives till date.
Maharashtra Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant refused to comment on the government's plan of action to curb the spread of the disease.
&ldquo;We are currently discussing the issue in the ongoing budget session, hence I can&rsquo;t comment on it. Once we have reached a resolution we will disclose the plan of action,&rdquo; Sawant said.
