The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday declared a one-day holiday for its offices following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash at Baramati in Pune district.

Only staff involved in essential and emergency services will remain on duty, officials said.
