Following Operation Sindoor, this is Home Minister Amit Shah's first trip to Maharashtra. While addressing the 60th death anniversary of Veer Savarkar, he would also be praising the achievements of the Indian armed forces, who worked tirelessly during the India-Pakistan hostilities.
Shah also inaugurated a few BJP offices in the region, with members of the Banjara community welcoming him.
Shah is currently on his three day tour of Maharashtra. In light of the state preparing for upcoming civic body elections, Shah's visit was important. His involvement with the public is considered as a strategic move to promote the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state of Maharashtra.
Before arriving in Mumbai, Shah was in Nagpur on Monday, where he laid the foundation stone for Swasti Niwas, a residential facility for cancer patients and their families at the National Cancer Institute. He later travelled to Nanded in the Marathwada region, where he unveiled a life-size statue of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik. He also participated in a public rally.
Looking ahead, Shah is set to visit West Bengal on June 1, where he will take part in a major central government event in Kolkata. The visit is expected to highlight significant national initiatives and showcase the Centre's developmental agenda.
Shah will also meet with members of the BJP’s West Bengal core committee and its MLAs. These interactions aim to bolster internal coordination and develop a cohesive strategy in the lead-up to the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for next year.
According to BJP sources, preparations in the state have already begun, and Shah’s visit is expected to further energize the party’s campaign and organizational machinery.
