Just ahead of the BMC Election 2026, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly refuted media claims suggesting that “no complaints have been filed against Narwekar and hence no action has been taken”, stating that this assertion is factually incorrect.
The party in its social media handle wrote, “Here is the Aam Aadmi Party's third complaint to the SEC and the Municipal Commissioner about Narwekar's uncouth
Media reports that there are "no complaints filed against Narwekar & hence no action taken against him", here is Aam Aadmi Party's THIRD complaint to the SEC & the Municipal Commissioner about Narwekar's uncouth behaviour as well as his threats and intimidation to all citizens.
According to AAP leaders, this is the third formal complaint submitted against Narwekar to the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) and the municipal commissioner. The party alleged uncouth behaviour, threats, and intimidation of citizens present at the site.

It further highlighted that despite repeated representations, no action has been initiated so far by the SEC, the Municipal Commissioner, or the Maharashtra government.
While questioning SEC, AAP further wrote, “However, no action has been taken by either the SEC or the Municipal Commissioner or even the Maharashtra Government.”
It has questioned the inaction of authorities, alleging selective silence and institutional apathy, and warned that such disregard for citizen complaints undermines democratic processes. Party leaders said the continued failure to act raises serious concerns about accountability and the rule of law, asking whether democratic norms are being compromised in the state.
In the complaint signed by Preeti Sharma Menon, national executive member and Mumbai President of AAP, the party urged SEC to take exemplary action against Narwekar, accusing him of misusing constitutional office, obstructing candidates, and intimidating citizens present at the venue.
The party has posted the letter written to SEC, in which they have questioned why time-stamped CCTV footage of the nomination centre has not been provided despite a formal request. AAP claims it has been informed that the relevant footage is “missing”, alleging that the visuals clearly establish wrongdoing.
Furthermore, the party in its the letter to SEC demanded that elections in wards 227, 226, and 225 be put on hold and re-polling ordered in the interest of free and fair polls and the rule of law.
Despite multiple representations, the party claims no action has been taken by SEC, the civic commissioner, or the Maharashtra Government so far, raising concerns over accountability and institutional silence.
