CBI had sought 10-day remand claiming that Peter wasn’t co-operating and that they wanted to investigate the source of income using which he and Indrani had invested in fixed deposits and immovable assets across India and the UK

Refusing to accept arguments that Peter Mukerjea was cooperating in the Sheena Bora murder case and therefore did not need to be kept in custody, the court remanded him to three days in CBI custody. After the hearing, around 9 pm last night, Peter and his son, Rahul, flew to New Delhi (flight AI 101), where they were to be taken to CBI headquarters for questioning.
The defence lawyers, Kushal Mor and Amit Desai, had argued that Peter and his chartered accountant had been co-operating with investigators, but Esplanade Court Magistrate Mahesh Natu remanded Peter in CBI custody till Thursday.
Arguing on CBI’s behalf, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh told the court that Peter’s custody was essential to unearth facts pertaining to the murder case.
