The post on his blog that came up on Thursday where the author of Five Point Someone says that the maker of the film was 'unfair' and that he had been 'grappling with it for two years, but kept silent about it.'
Bhagat further goes on to mention that he does not blame Khan who plays the chief protagonist in the movie that claims to be loosely based on the book. "When I met him (Aamir), both of us were told that the movie is original and not the book. He was asked not to read the book - and I wasn't shown the script. Go figure," said the blog.
Meanwhile, Vidhu Vinod Chopra in other media reports accused Bhagat of being publicity hungry. "He (Bhagat) was promised a bonus if the film becomes a hit, and it was given to him even before the film released. You are giving fame to a man like that," Chopra told a news channel.
Another source said that Bhagat's duplicity was surprising to the producers. "Until a week ago, he was giving interviews by the dozen about how he had seen the film and how he was happy about the same. This about face is strange," said the source.
Meanwhile, fans of both Khan and Bhagat exchanged a volley of comments on Twitter, online discussion pages and on their respective blogs.
The outburst from the writer started on Twitter on Wednesday evening where he left a string of comments related to the movie that released last week.
"Yes, it is true they haven't given me credit for story. Possibly because there are many awards for this category, and they want to take it. I didn't write this story to win awards. I wrote it because I wanted to change the education system. So, they can collect those awards at various functions. I am more than happy to keep my fans love. God Bless," said Bhagat in a series of tweets.
When contacted, Khan's publicist said that the actor did not want to comment on the issue.
During the first four days of its release, 3 Idiots, has garnered more than Rs 100 crore from box-office collections. During its opening weekend, 3 Idiots collected more than $2.14 million in North America, $1 million in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), about $700,000 in the UK, $300,000 in Australia and New Zealand and $310,000 from the rest of the world.
