An <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-ismaili-civic-india-partners-with-indian-coast-guard-for-coastal-cleanup-drive-23331624" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Indian Coast Guard</a> ship rescued a man who had fallen into the sea from a private vessel off the Mumbai coast on Saturday night, an official said, reported news agency ANI.
According to the ICG official, the rescue operation lasted about three hours.
"The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/indian-coast-guard-nab-sri-lankans-for-smuggling-sea-cucumber-raw-turmeric-23316184" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Indian Coast Guard Ship</a> saved a precious life in the dark hours. In a swift operation conducted in the night of February 3, 24, ICG ship C439 saved a man, who had fallen into the sea off Mumbai from private Yatch McGregor 6. ICG ship responded to the call quickly. The rescue operation lasted three hours," he said, adding that the rescued person was stable and healthy, reported ANI.

Last year in October, the Indian Coast Guard rescued a 49-year-old Chinese national suffering from a "stroke" combined with "hemiplegia" from a Panama-flagged ship off the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/coast-guard-rescues-chinese-national-suffering-from-stroke-off-mumbai-coast-23314369" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai coast</a>, the maritime security agency said.
Hemiplegia is one-sided muscle paralysis or weakness. It is usually a symptom of a brain-related issue or condition.
The patient along with one attendant was handed over to the vessel's agent in the city in stable condition for further medical management, it said.
"Braving the extremely low visibility conditions @IndiaCoastGuard Ship C-439 undertook Medical Evacuation #MEDEVAC of 49 yr old #Chinese crew, suffering from stroke combined with Hemiplegia, from Panama flagged MT Hua Wei 8 off #Mumbai Coast today," the Coast Guard said in a post on X.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, in January, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/four-fishermen-missing-after-boat-capsizes-rescue-operations-underway-23312884" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Indian Coast Guard</a> launched a major rescue operation after a ferry boat with 400 pilgrims ran ground off Namkhana, Kakdwip area near Gangasagar pilgrimage in West Bengal, reported PTI.
The Coast Guard deployed hovercrafts from Haldia and so far, around 140 pilgrims have been rescued and operations are still going on, the Indian Coast Guard said, reported PTI.
The pilgrims were returning from Gangasagar after taking a holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Their boat ran aground due to poor visibility, it added, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, devotees thronged Sagardwip in West Bengal during Gangasagar Mela on Makar Sankranti and took a holy dip. The auspicious day adds to the festive atmosphere, amplifying the cultural and religious importance of the gathering., reported PTI.
Situated just off the Bengal coast, Sagardwip has exceptional beauty and religious significance. The confluence of the Ganga River and the Bay of Bengal imparts a unique spiritual charm to this location.
