COVID-19: At 75, Mumbai sees highest ever deaths on a single day

While daily cases, that stood at 7,410 on Thursday, seem to be reducing, the rising number of deaths is cause for concern

The number of COVID-19 cases in the city appears to be steady but the increasing number of deaths has been worrying the authorities. On Thursday, the city reported 75 deaths, the maximum so far on a single day in the second wave. Maharashtra registered 568 deaths for the second consecutive day.
Mumbai reported 7,410 cases after conducting 46,874 tests with an approximate Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of 16 per cent. In the first week of April, the number of average daily positive patients was around 10,000. There are 83,953 active patients in the city.
