Mumbai on Monday saw a marginal dip in new cases but a rise in the test positivity rate (TPR). After recording the second wave’s lowest TPR at 0.53 per cent on Thursday, the city recorded a significant rise for the second consecutive day, at 0.91 per cent. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) report, 226 new cases were reported with four deaths across the city. The rise in TPR can be attributed to a dip in testing on Monday.

It was on August 16 that the numbers fell below 200 and the city recorded the second wave’s lowest daily cases. Mumbai’s TPR dipped below 1 per cent — a first in the second wave — on July 29.
