In a bid to obtain the opinion of commuters regarding the rail services, the Government Railway Police (GRP) will now be accepting suggestions through drop boxes at suburban railway stations.
The GRP has tied up with a private firm Minc to receive suggestions through their drop boxes which are spread across 55 railway stations in the city.
"There are over 100 railway stations in the city and there is no GRP station at many of them due to which commuters problems remain unheard," GRP Commissioner (Mumbai) AK Sharma said.
Through the drop boxes the police would be able to receive information about problems faced by people and suggestions on how they could improve their working, he said.
The suggestions once received will be sent to main control room of the GRP in the city where they will be sorted and then will be sent to the respective departments concerned, officials said.
"Unlike other complaint boxes in government offices where the suggestion box is never opened, in this case we have no way of avoiding letters, they will be delivered to us," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vasant Koregaonkar said.
The boxes will also be opened daily and checked which will ensure that suggestions reach the police quickly, he added.
