With no signs of abatement of the crime wave in the city, a woman and her son were reported killed in Jamshed Nagar, Colaba yesterday.
According to the police, Sujata Gupta (32) and her son Mayur were strangulated with a dupatta. Sujata's husband, Jayprakash Gupta, who works as a cook, returned home from work at 5 pm to find the two lying on the bed, with a dupatta close to them.
"When the husband tried to wake them up, they didn't respond. He sensed something amiss and with the help of his neighbours informed us about the incident," said Sanjeevrao Mandalik, inspector from Colaba police station.
"We reached the spot and found them dead. We have detained several people from the area and are investigating the matter," said Mandalik.
