Six wards in Sinnar, Ozar and Chandwad in Nashik district recorded a voter turnout of 49.47 per cent. In Ward No. 2 of Sinnar, a 25-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to vote by impersonating his brother using a fake Aadhaar card, officials said.
Counting on 21 December
The State Election Commission said counting of votes for all 286 municipal councils and nagar panchayats, including those that went to the polls on 2 December, will begin at 10 am on Sunday, 21 December.
In the first phase of the elections, voting was held in 263 municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
Unopposed results and political contest
Elections to choose members and presidents of Dondaicha municipal council and Angar nagar panchayat were held unopposed. The election for the Jammer municipal president was also uncontested.
In several areas, partners in the ruling alliance -- including the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP -- are contesting against one another.
The electoral contest has become multi-layered, with the BJP-led Mahayuti facing the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), along with instances of so-called “friendly fights” within alliances.
