Elections for 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats across Maharashtra will be held on December 2 with counting scheduled for December 3 State Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare announced lakh and Rs 5 lakh depending on the category and for zilla parishad and panchayat samiti polls between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakhTo make voting more accessible a special mobile app will be launched for voters to locate their polling stations check their names on the voter list and view information about candidatesThe Election Commission has also announced measures to prevent irregularities in the voter rolls Duplicate voter names will be marked with a lsquodouble starrsquo symbol and strict vigilance will be maintained to ensure fair electionsPolling staff will receive specific instructions on where to keep their mobile phones during dutyAll polling stations will have arrangements for electricity water and seating to ensure voter convenienceAdditionally lsquopink boothsrsquo managed by to implement innovative initiatives at their respective levels to engage and motivate citizens to vote
