Stam duty amounting to Rs 38.99 lakh has been waived off for the Tata Memorial Centre’s upcoming cancer hospital in Khalapur, in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s department moved the proposal for stamp duty waiver, which was approved by the state cabinet in its meeting held in Mumbai on Tuesday. The waiver granted under the Maharashtra Stamp Act will be notified in the state gazette after vetting by the Law and Judiciary Department.
The state government has allotted 10 hectares of land at Tambati in Khalapur on a 30-year lease at a token rate of Rs 1 per year. The hospital is expected to emerge as a model for integrated cancer care treatment.
Also, as part of enhancing affordable treatment in rural and urban areas, the proposed 100-bed integrated Ayurvedic cancer hospital and research centre, under various health schemes, will keep 12 per cent of its beds reserved for the unprivileged, government employees and the general public.
“Affordable stay facilities for one attendant per patient will also be provided,” the statement issued by Bawankule’s office said.
