With an estimated turnout of nearly 20 lakh devotees, Navi Mumbai is gearing up for the 350th Shaheedi Samagam of "Hind-Di-Chadar" Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, scheduled to be held on February 28 and March 1. Authorities have put in place extensive arrangements to manage the anticipated massive footfall, ensuring seamless logistics, safety, and comfort for attendees arriving from across India and abroad.

Konkan Divisional Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi said the administration is fully prepared to handle the scale of the gathering, with coordinated efforts across multiple departments. "All essential facilities have been planned to ensure the smooth conduct of the event," he stated during a press briefing at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh.

The press conference was attended by key organisers, including Sharad Ravji Dhole of the Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Jagran Samiti, State Coordination Committee Coordinator Rameshwar Naik, Co-coordinator Jaspal Singh Sidhu, Convener Bal Malkit Singh, and Minority Commission member Happy Singh.

Massive Footfall Expected, Extensive Arrangements in Place

Officials estimate that between 18 to 20 lakh devotees will attend the two-day Samagam. A large main pavilion with a capacity of 80,000 to one lakh people at a time has been constructed to accommodate the influx.

To ensure smooth transportation, over 150 special NMMT bus services will be operated, while 38 designated parking zones have been identified. Three helipads have also been arranged for VVIP movement. Accommodation for around 25,000 devotees has been set up, along with more than 1,000 temporary toilets. Over 500 sanitation workers will be deployed to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the venue.

Robust Healthcare and Security Measures

Given the scale of the event, authorities have prioritised healthcare and emergency response systems. More than 300 doctors and paramedical staff will be deployed on-site, supported by over 15 temporary medical centres and a dedicated temporary ICU facility.

Additionally, approximately 350 hospital beds, including 75 ICU beds, have been reserved in nearby hospitals. Security has been tightened with coordinated deployment of multiple agencies, while over 10,000 volunteers will assist in crowd management and guide devotees throughout the venue.

National Leaders, Saints to Mark Presence

State Coordination Committee Coordinator Rameshwar Naik said the Shaheedi Samagam will serve as a symbol of national unity and shared spiritual heritage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the gathering via video conferencing.

Several high-profile dignitaries, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and other chief ministers and political leaders, are likely to attend. Spiritual figures such as Baba Ramdev, Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, and Sadhvi Ritambhara are also expected to be present.

In addition, saints and Ragi Jathedars representing Sikh, Sikligar, Banjara, Labana, Mohyal, Sindhi, Valmiki, Udasi, and Bhagat Namdev communities will participate in the event.

Nagar Kirtan to Precede Main Event

A Nagar Kirtan procession will be organised on February 27 as part of the commemorative events leading up to the Samagam. Naik noted that similar awareness programmes are being conducted across the country to mark the 350th Shaheedi year of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

He emphasised that the event aims to inspire the younger generation by promoting the Guru’s teachings of courage, religious freedom, humanity, and justice.

Celebration of Unity and Timeless Values

Organisers highlighted that the Samagam goes beyond being a religious congregation, positioning itself as a platform to reinforce values of sacrifice, tolerance, and unity. With participation expected from diverse communities and regions, the event is set to emerge as a powerful expression of cultural harmony and national integration.
