Mira Road communal clash: Police issuse directive for communal harmony after skirmish

Following the recent Mira Road communal clash, the Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police issued an order requesting group administrators not to share anything linked to confrontations on social media. The instruction intends to promote community harmony, and authorities are prepared to take action against administrators who violate it, per ANI report. 


According to the report, the communal clash on January 21 at Naya Nagar sparked an investigation, and unlawful constructions were dismantled in the vicinity. The Maharashtra government emphasised the cooperation between the Municipal Corporation and the police in carrying out this measure.


"An investigation is going on in the matter and the accused are being arrested based on evidence. The atmosphere is calm in the area and some people are broadcasting different videos about the incident through various media. Due to this, misunderstandings are spreading in the society. However, no offensive text, video, photo, status, etc., which may hurt the religious sentiments of people of any caste religion regarding the incident, which may create law and order problems and disturb social peace, such as offensive information, post, on WhatsApp," the police further said.

"Illegal structures and encroachments were razed by bulldozers in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road where Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha celebrations were stone-pelted. After instructions from the Maharashtra government, action is being taken by the Municipal Corporation with the help of the police," the Maharashtra government said, the ANI stated. 


In a related development, arrests were made in Mumbai in response to reports of offensive religious sentiments. Three people faced prosecution for insulting Lord Ram's flag, uploading offensive content, and removing a flag featuring Lord Ram's image. Additionally, threats made during a bike demonstration in Islampura resulted in a prosecution against unnamed individuals.

In the first incident, a 27-year-old was arrested for allegedly insulting the flag with visceral of Lord Ram during prayers at the Pimpleshwar temple in Vakola area; cops booked him under Sections 295, 504, and 506 of the IPC.

In second, per ANI report, the Govandi Police booked a 23-year-old for posting a provocative status on his mobile and he was booked under Sections 153(A) and 295(A) of the IPC.

Bhoiwada cops had booked a 55-year-old for removing a banner featuring Lord Ram's photo from gated apartment complex's gate. He and a few others were booked under IPC sections 153(A), 295(A), 505(2), and 34, the ANI report stated. 

Meanwhile, in Islampura, unknown individuals threatened the people who had taken out a bike rally with violence. A case was filed by the police under sections 506(2), 341, 298, 504, and 34 against unidentified persons.

On January 22, the Pran Pratishtha of new idol of Lord Ram was completed at Ayodhya's temple. The celebration was headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who unveiled the Ram Lalla statue.
