An accident was reported on Saturday at 11:08 am by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (BMC’s MFB) at Om Prathamesh Building, Link Road, Borivali West.
A car parking lift collapsed into a 7-meter-deep car lift pit in the G+21 floor building, trapping two individuals.
Firemen rescued both trapped people and transported them to the BDBA Shatabdi Hospital in a police van.
According to Dr. Tandel, AMO at the hospital, as of 12:59 pm, Shubham Madamlal Dhuri (30) was declared brought dead, while Sunjeet Yadav (45) sustained a head injury and was referred for a CT scan.
Yadav’s condition is reported to be stable.
Mumbai: 26-year-old Vikhroli man killed as old tree falls on his head
In a tragic occurrence in Mumbai's Vikhroli district, a 26-year-old man was killed when a tree fell on him while he was standing with his friends at Ganesh Maidan. This sad tragedy in Vikhroli has undoubtedly made people more careful and sensitive to the threatening weather. According to reports, the tree that fell on the victim's head was old and had weakened roots. The tree could not retain its position and fell on the deceased man's head due to the heavy rains and thunderstorms that had been occurring since Monday morning.
The 26-year-old man who died has been identified as Tejas Naidu from Vikhroli. Tejas was reportedly standing on the road, observing the weather during Mumbai's first monsoon shower. With the strong winds blowing over the city, the tree was unable to retain its position and crashed on Tejas' head.
As soon as Tejas got hit by the tree, people who were present at the scene immediately rushed him to the nearby Godrej hospital in Vikhroli. However, he was declared dead by the doctors at the hospital as soon as they arrived.
The old tree that fell on Tejas' head had weakening roots and could have fallen at any time. The severe monsoon rainfall and winds exacerbated the issue, and it collapsed while Tejas was standing just beneath it.
Mumbai on Monday received the season's first rainfall, and in a few hours, the whole city was in chaos. Tree fall incidents were also reported in South Mumbai's Colaba area, but fortunately, there were no injuries reported. Furthermore, several waterlogging scenarios all across the city made the lives of the people quite challenging.
