The Parksite police at Vikhroli have arrested a 31-year-old man, Ahmed Khan, the prime accused in a Rs 1.5 crore job scam. Ahmed was arrested on Friday at Ghatkopar after cops received information about his whereabouts. In December 2014, the police had arrested his accomplice — Sandeep Khandale (29) and Amol Kadam (31).
What was the scam
The trio started the fake job racket in May 2014. They lured people by offering them jobs overseas and took money from them. They also took the victims’ passports. If someone didn’t have one, they would demand money to make the passport. In October 2014, a victim’s father informed the cops that the accused had their office at Parksite, Vikroli.
