The Santacruz police detained three men for drunk driving after they took their car for a reckless joyride on Juhu beach and ended up driving straight into the sea. The accused — Najib Abdul Sayed, 42, a resident of Andhra Pradesh; Tarun Yadav, 36, a Khar West-based businessman; and Brijesh Soni, 33, from Madhya Pradesh —were reportedly under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred around 8 pm on July 11.

Constable Nitin Jaybhaye of Santacruz police station, who filed the complaint, spotted the speeding vehicle on the beach before it suddenly veered into the seawater and got stuck in the sand. "They were driving the car into the sea when it got stuck. Their joyride turned into a disaster as they started yelling and blaming each other for the mess," said a police officer.
