The Ghatkopar cops have booked a man and three associates of his for abducting his wife and attempting to admit her to a mental asylum at Khalapur against her will. The 37-year-old woman, who managed to escape, complained to the police about the incident. After an initial inquiry, an FIR was registered but no arrests have been made.

According to the FIR, the complainant married for the second time in 2008 after the demise of her husband. After tying the knot, she left for Kuwait with her partner, Saif Mohammed Khan, and lived there for 11 years with her son from her first marriage and a son and daughter from her second marriage. In Kuwait, her husband allegedly abused and beat her up, demanding that she ask her parents for a dowry. In 2019, the family moved back to Mumbai and settled in Colaba.
