Almost a week after advocates and senior members of the Borivali Advocates Bar Association protested against the absence of a magistrate in the Borivali Metropolitan Magistrate Court No. 67, the registrar general of Bombay High Court issued a government notification which mentions that vacant posts of judges in city courts would soon be filled up. Three judges have already been nominated on an ad hoc basis for Dindoshi city civil courts numbers 1, 3 and 5. However, a judge is yet to be appointed for the Borivali Metropolitan Magistrate Court No. 67, which has been functioning without one for the past six months.
According to sources, a senior advocate from the Borivali court has written to the registrar general demanding that the judge’s post in court number 67 be filled on priority basis. Post the government notification, the HC appointed 10 judges, who have been transferred to Mumbai, to take charge of the vacant posts in various city civil sessions courts and lower courts.
