The LT Marg Police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Rajasthan in connection with a temple theft in South Mumbai’s Mangaldas Market area. The accused, who has been arrested, allegedly stole silver and other religious ornaments from a temple in the Mangaldas Market area. It has been reported that the accused tried to steal 3 kg of silver, which is valued at around Rs. 3 lakhs.

According to police officials, the accused’s arrest has helped crack open at least half a dozen similar offences. The arrested accused has been identified as Kapil Brijmohan Soni (24), a resident of Ambalal Jewellers, Bhadwasia Mahadev Mandir area, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

A team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Bhandare and constables Kamble, Sanap, and Wakchaure was dispatched to Jodhpur to trace the accused. Acting on specific inputs, the team detained Soni from his residence near Bhadwasia Mahadev Mandir and brought him to Mumbai on transit remand.

Soni has allegedly been involved in three previous silver theft cases registered under the jurisdiction of the LT Marg Police.

Preliminary investigations also highlight that the accused had visited multiple areas in Mumbai, including VP Road, Juhu, Andheri, DN Nagar, and Bhoiwada, where thefts have been reported in the past.

Police officials are now coordinating with local stations in those areas to verify his possible involvement. Investigations are ongoing, and police are looking into whether the accused is part of a larger network, said one of the officers.
