The water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 89.02 per cent.

As per the BMC on Sunday (August 10), the collective water stock in these reservoirs is 12,88479 million litres, which amounts to 89.02 per cent of their total capacity.


Upper Vaitarna stands at 602.32 metres with 83.20 per cent live storage, while Modak Sagar, currently at 162.67 metres, is at 97.24 per cent capacity. Tansa, at 128.47 metres, is at 97.92 per cent.



Middle Vaitarna is at 94.47 per cent, Bhatsa at 86.71 per cent, Vihar at 74.71 per cent, and Tulsi at 85.22 per cent. The city recorded 1 mm of rainfall at the Bhandup Complex in the past 24 hours, bringing the season’s total to 1,329 mm. Several lakes have reached full or near-full levels, with gates at Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, and Tulsi already closed, ensuring water security for the coming months.

Mumbai weather update: Cloudy skies, light to moderate rain likely in city today

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai is expected to experience a generally cloudy sky today, with the possibility of light to moderate rain across the city and suburbs. Residents should be prepared for brief showers during the day, though no heavy downpour is currently forecast.

Tidal activity will see a high tide at 12:47 p.m., reaching 4.50 meters, followed by a low tide at 6:54 p.m. at 1.27 meters. Later tonight, on August 11, a high tide of 4.12 meters is expected at 12:52 a.m., with the next low tide occurring at 6:36 a.m., measuring 0.54 meters.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to hover near 26 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, Colaba's maximum temperature is expected to be 31.4 degrees Celsius, and minimum is likely to be 26.0 degrees Celsius. 

Relative humidity stands at 86 per cent in the morning and may drop to 74 per cent by eLake levels in seven reservoirs, water stock in reservoirs, total capacity of seven reservoirs, lakes supplying drinking water, rainfall catchment area, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC, Mumbai reservoirs, Mumbai lake levels, BMC Water Reservoirs, Mumbai Water Supply, Modak Sagar, Mumbai Water Stock Update, Mumbai Reservoir Levelsvening, with 2 mm of rainfall. 

Meanwhile, Santacruz's maximum temperature is expected to be 31.7 degrees Celsius and minimum is likely to be 25.4 degrees Celsius, matching the seasonal average. Morning humidity was 92 per cent, which is likely to decrease to 74 per cent in the evening, with 3 mm of rainfall noted. Both regions experienced warm and humid conditions with light rainfall.
