With rain lashing the city for the last three days, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) issued an advisory early on Monday informing passengers about potential delays. The statement read, “Due to inclement weather and forecast of heavy rain, passengers are requested to connect with their respective airlines to check on the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.”
On Monday, the airport witnessed ten go-arounds and one flight diversion due to low visibility on the runway, as per information received by mid-day. The flight that was diverted was the IndiGo flight 6E6468, with the tail number VT-IIJ from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, which took off at 10.07 am and landed at 11.35 am. The flight was diverted to Surat due to the weather conditions around the Mumbai airport.
So far, no major delays have been noticed at the airport, but delays can be expected in case heavy rains persist. The CSMIA statement on X continued, “Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to ensure adequate time for security processing.” Along with CSMIA, airlines including IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air issued statements advising passengers about potential delays.
