In a major breakthrough against narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Kandivali Unit on Wednesday seized 511 grams of heroin, worth approximately Rs 2.04 crore, during a raid. The operation was conducted near the Rashtriya Udyan Metro Station on the Western Express Highway’s northbound stretch in Borivali (East).
While informing about the raid, the Mumbai Police, in a social media platform on X, wrote, “The ANC Kandivali Unit conducted a raid near the Rashtriya Udyan Metro Station on the Western Express Highway (Northbound), Borivali (East), Mumbai.”

Acting on specific intelligence, officers from ANC conducted a search. During the operation, the team recovered heroin, two mobile phones, and a mixer grinder allegedly used for processing the contraband. The couple was immediately taken into custody following the raid.
“During the operation, 511 grams of heroin valued at Rs 2.04 crore were seized from the residence of a couple, along with two mobile phones and a mixer grinder,” the police further informed.
Speaking on the further proceedings, the Mumbai Police's post stated that a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and both individuals have been apprehended.
Further investigation into the case is underway to uncover additional links.
DRI thwarts drug-smuggling bid in Mumbai
Last month, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in a meticulously planned targeted operation against narcotics trafficking, seized 1718 grams of cocaine from a Tanzanian passenger arriving from Entebbe (Uganda) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
According to Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officers, the drugs have an estimated value of Rs 17.18 crore in the illicit market.
Acting on specific intelligence, the DRI officers intercepted the passenger upon her arrival. A detailed examination of her baggage led to the recovery of two food packets and a plastic container filled with a white powder, while one pouch was found containing pellets with a white powdery substance. The officers also recovered two capsules that had been ingested by the passenger. Testing of the recovered substances using an NDPS field test kit returned positive results for cocaine.
