Two people were injured in a human–wildlife conflict incident near Kurar village adjacent to Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Saturday morning. Both injured persons were taken to Kandivali’s Shatabdi Hospital for treatment.
According to villagers, the injured are a father and son who had gone to fetch water from a well near their hamlet between 5.30 am and 6 am.
A woman from their house who had gone ahead first reportedly spotted a leopard and began shouting for help. Hearing her cries, the father and son ran towards her and tried to scare away the leopard that was sitting in the bushes.
Shifted to BMC hospital for treatment
During the attempt to drive the animal away, the leopard suddenly attacked and injured both of them. Locals rushed to help and the injured were later shifted to the BMC-run Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali for treatment.
