Assaulted for giving birth to three daughters, a woman registered a case against her husband and in-laws at Rabale police station in Navi Mumbai. The complainant Reeta Yadav (29) married Deepak Yadav (33) on February 5, 2007.&nbsp;

Reeta gave birth to her first daughter Rishika Yadav in October 2008, followed by twins Shakshi and Shruthi in December 2011.

&ldquo;They started taunting and harassing me over trivial issues. They abused and assaulted me, calling me &lsquo;weird&rsquo; for being unable to bear a son. After the twins, they kept asking me to try again, but I refused. They harassed me only because they wanted a boy,&rdquo; said Reeta.

But while the assault was directed at her initially, her in-laws soon began hitting Reeta&rsquo;s eldest daughter.
&ldquo;They had stopped giving money for medical expenses and ostracised me inside the house. They even separated our kitchens. But then they started hitting and abusing Rishika.
&ldquo;She studied in a convent school till Class II, but this year I had to shift her to a municipal school because my husband wouldn&rsquo;t pay for her fees. My father had been paying her fees since the last few years,&rdquo; Reeta said, who is now staying with her parents in Kharagar (Navi Mumbai).
Last incident On July 14, Reeta&rsquo;s husband demanded to see her mobile phone, but when she refused, Reeta alleged they started beating her with a clothes hanger.
&ldquo;My husband and father-in-law, Shivchand Yadav (60) started assaulting me inside the closed bedroom. They even threatened me with a hot iron and forced me to seek divorce. I tried calling our neighbours, but got no response. Then I called my brother, Sudharshan Yadav, who rushed to our place. He kept banging the door, but my in-laws refused to open it. So Sudharshan contacted the cops. My in-laws opened the door after three hours.&rdquo;
She also claimed her husband was demanding R10 lakh and a flat from her parents.
&ldquo;The assault marks are still visible on my skin. I have shifted to my father&rsquo;s home in Navi Mumbai,&rdquo; the woman added.
Reeta&rsquo;s father, Kharghar resident Harilal Yadav, said, &ldquo;Deepak Yadav hails from our village. We sought him for our daughter because we were told he was pursuing mechanical engineering. But, we later found out that he was a BCom dropout, who started his diploma after marriage. Their family has three flourmills and three flats. While they live in one of them, their livelihood depends on the rent they get from the other two flats - approximately R1.50 lakh. We tolerated them for so long, but this time, we were forced to register a case.&rdquo;
Police confirm A case has been registered against Reeta&rsquo;s husband Deepak and in-laws (Shivchand and Lalita) under Sections 498A, 324, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, insult and annoyance. They have got bail.
