The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has intensified its property tax recovery drive and initiated strict attachment action against chronic defaulters. As part of the ongoing enforcement campaign, the civic body on Thursday, seized three commercial properties in Nerul for non-payment of property tax dues.

The action was carried out by NMMC’s property tax department under the directives of civic chief Dr Kailas Shinde, and under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar and Deputy Commissioner Dr Amol Palve.

Despite repeated appeals and notices, several property owners have continued to ignore tax payments, the civic body said. Taking a firm stand against the non-payments, the civic administration has decided to proceed with action, without any further concessions or relaxations for defaulters.

Dedicated attachment squads have been formed across all ward offices, and notices have already been issued to property tax defaulters citywide.

Drive to be conducted on large and sustained scale across Navi Mumbai

The attachment teams have begun visiting defaulters’ premises, and properties with long-pending dues will face sealing and seizure directly. The civic body has clarified that this drive will be conducted on a large and sustained scale across Navi Mumbai.

Property tax remains one of NMMC’s most crucial revenue sources, funding essential civic services such as infrastructure development, water supply, sanitation, education, and public amenities. With several defaulters continuing to disregard official notices, the corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance approach to ensure revenue recovery.

The campaign is being implemented with a focus on accurate defaulter data, zone-wise planning and time-bound action, with daily progress reviews at ward levels.

The civic administration has appealed to citizens to voluntarily clear pending dues immediately to avoid coercive action and support the city’s overall development.
