Newborn wrapped in a blanket was spotted after her hand was seen sticking out of dumping spot in Kurla; post-mortem report awaited

Residents of Jari Mari’s Muslim Society found the body of newborn baby girl on Wednesday, wrapped in a blanket, was found in a garbage bin near the airport’s boundary wall.
According to locals, a man who had gone to dispose of garbage noticed a tiny hand protruding from a blanket in the bin and immediately checked what was inside. On realising it was a baby, he alerted the residents of the society and asked them to inform the police, after which he remained at the spot.
Confirming the incident, DCP Dutta Lalwade told mid-day, “After receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the baby to Rajawadi Hospital. A post-mortem has been scheduled, and the exact cause of death is being ascertained.”
The Sakinaka police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and have begun efforts to trace the child’s parents so that an FIR can be filed. However, police said the investigation is being hampered as there are very few CCTV cameras in the vicinity.
