Motorists had another reason to rejoice yesterday. Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan also inaugurated the 2.8-km Panjarpol-Ghatkopar Link Road (PGLR), thereby completing the 16.4-km long Eastern Freeway.

The elevated road is now the highest bridge in the city, standing tall at a height of 22 metres. It will enable people from the Eastern suburbs and Thane to go towards south Mumbai in about 30 minutes. Motorists will now drive far above the traffic snarls at various bottlenecks.
