Sanjay Raut alleged that Eknath Shinde, during a meeting with Amit Shah, complained about CM Fadnavis and offered to merge Shiv Sena with the BJP to secure the chief minister’s post. Raut said Shinde opposed Marathi unity efforts and is desperate to lead Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) has dismissed Raut's claims as baseless and habitual.

Amid the chaotic political scenario in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday took a jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Sanjay Raut slammed Eknath Shinde over his latest visit to Delhi, saying that he was so desperate to become the CM that he has offered to merge the Shiv Sena with the BJP.

As reported by PTI, Sanjay Raut claimed that Shinde complained about Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

Replying to Sanjay Raut’s statement, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sheetal Mhatre hit out at the MP, saying he has a habit of making such remarks and that his party members don't take him seriously.

Talking to the media, MP Sanjay Raut asserted that, "During his meeting with Union Minister Amit Shah, Eknath Shinde complained that Fadnavis was not allowing him to work and was initiating inquiries against his party MLAs," as cited by news agency PTI.

He further alleged that the Shiv Sena chief told Shah that efforts to intensify Marathi unity would hurt his party and that this movement needed to be weakened.

Raut was referring to the joint victory rally held by Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin Raj Thackeray to celebrate the government withdrawing the two controversial GRs to make Hindi "mandatory" and the three-language formula for students of Class 1–5.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that "Shinde informed Shah that making him the chief minister would be a solution for this. If he (Shinde) becomes the CM, he will put a stop to this and bring stability to Maharashtra politics."

He further alleged that when Shah pointed out that the CM had to be from the BJP, Shinde said he was willing to merge the Shiv Sena with the ruling party.

"He (Shinde) is so desperate to become the CM that he is ready to merge the party with the BJP," Raut claimed, as per PTI.

However, it is worth noting that this is not the first time Sanjay Raut has made such audacious claims about the Shinde-led Shiv Sena or the BJP.

Earlier in January, Raut also said that Shiv Sena Minister Uday Samant might be the state's third deputy chief minister, sparking a feud between him and Shinde.

Previously, when Shinde became chief minister in 2022, Raut predicted that the government would fall very early, but the dispensation lasted, and the Mahayuti administration returned to power with an overwhelming majority.
