Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule on Thursday sought urgent intervention from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to secure the safety and release of a young man from Maharashtra’s Beed district, who is reportedly trapped in severe legal and humanitarian distress in Dubai.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sule highlighted the plight of Akash Suresh Jagtap, who had travelled to Dubai for employment but was allegedly cheated by an intermediary. According to her post, the youth is now entangled in a serious legal case, and his family in Maharashtra has lost all contact with him.

Sule stated that despite the family making substantial payments in good faith—reportedly demanded for his release—the situation has not improved. “His situation remains critical and his contact with family members has been cut off,” she wrote, adding that the family is undergoing immense mental and emotional stress amid the uncertainty surrounding his welfare.
The Baramati MP urged External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, the Consulate General of India in Dubai, and the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene immediately. She appealed for swift diplomatic and consular assistance to ensure Akash’s safety and secure his safe return to India.
The incident underscores the growing concerns over exploitation faced by Indian job-seekers abroad, particularly those who fall prey to unauthorised recruitment agents and fraudulent intermediaries. Sule’s intervention has brought the case into public focus, with citizens on social media also calling for expedited government action.
Supriya Sule seeks closure of liquor shops in Breach Candy
NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule has urged Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to take immediate steps to shut liquor shops in south Mumbai’s upscale Breach Candy area, citing residents’ safety concerns.
In her letter dated August 25, Sule highlighted complaints from the Breach Candy Residents’ Forum, which alleged that liquor outlets in the locality are creating nuisance and law-and-order issues
She pointed out that two schools and a hospital are located in close proximity of the liquor shops, which creates a disturbing environment for people in the locality.
The NCP (SP) working president also highlighted complaints of traffic congestion, noise pollution, late-night crowd gatherings, gambling activities and harassment of women and children in the vicinity.
"Women and senior citizens in particular have raised concerns over safety. Police have to frequently intervene in cases of quarrels and assaults in the area. Around 200 local residents have already submitted a signed memorandum seeking closure of these establishments," she said.
Sule appealed to the state government to take urgent steps to shut down the liquor shops operating in the locality.
