One person was charred to death after a container truck toppled and went up in flames in Thane city in the early hours of Friday

On Friday morning, a container caught fire on Ghodbunder Road in Thane leading to the death of a person who was in the container. The fire brigade and Regional Disaster Management Cell doused the fire and removed the container with the help of a hydra. 


According to the Disaster Management Cell officials, they received a call to the control room around 2:35 am. The incident took place in front of Hiranandani Park, Patlipada, Ghodbunder Road, Thane. "The container GJ 14 Z 0145 was heading from Thane towards Ghodbunder road. It toppled and caught fire. It was found that the container was owned by Jay Ambe Transport and the driver was unknown," said an official from the RDMC. 


After the fire was reported, police personnel from the Chitalsar police station along with traffic police reached the spot. While the fire brigade officials reached the spot with two fire engines, one emergency tender and one rescue van. 


"The fire was brought under control at around 3:30 am by the team of fire brigade officials. One person succumbed to injuries in the accident and was shifted to Thane civil hospital for further processing. Meanwhile, the traffic police used two hydra and put the container aside. Almost after three hours the traffic on the road started moving smoothly," added the official.

In another incident on Friday morning, there was a pile-up on the nearby national highway that left over 20 cars damaged, according to the Ludhiana police.

The collision happened roughly 20 kilometres away, close to Doraha, according to the deputy superintendent of police.

In the collision involving numerous cars and a truck, none of the passengers suffered serious injuries, he said.

Many others had driven away with their damaged automobiles, making it extremely impossible to determine which vehicle was engaged in the accident first, according to the DSP.
