Two persons were trapped under debris when a building, being demolished by municipal authorities, collapsed on Monday, fire officials said.

Two persons were trapped under debris when a building, being demolished by municipal authorities, collapsed on Monday, fire officials said.

Municipal authorities of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation had begun the demolition of a three-storeyed structure, Balaji Empire, in suburban Bhayander when a portion of the building collapsed around 11.00 hours today, they said.


Three JCB machines, that were carrying out the demolition, and their operators were trapped in the debris, officials said.



One of the JCB operators was extricated from the rubble and work was on to extricate the other two persons, they said.
