Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday slammed the BJP government for the monsoon crisis situation in Mumbai. He blamed the ruling party for the large- scale waterlogging issues across the city. Thackeray criticised the Maharashtra government for not being prepared for the monsoon and blamed the government for neglecting the farmers affected by the recent downpour.

Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on Balasaheb Thackeray and Operation Sindoor, Thackeray said, "All these statements here and there are fine, but Mumbaikars want an answer as to why the BJP has brought Mumbai to this condition -- the condition which we saw yesterday."

"Why does the BJP have such malice for Mumbai in their mind? Why does the BJP want to end Mumbai? Thousands of hectares have suffered losses due to rain. Why has no help been provided to the farmers? Whether it's Mumbai, Thane or Pune, the situation in several cities is worsening. Why are our cities receiving no help?" he told reporters.

Earlier, the Shiv Sena Worli MLA blamed the Maharashtra government for failing to maintain the drainage system in Mumbai, which resulted in severe waterlogging issues after the heavy rainfall, reported ANI.

Thackery said in a post on X, "We are seeing absolute absence of governance in Maharashtra today. Mumbai has collapsed in the rains, and it's only May. Last week, it was Andheri Subway and Saki Naka that was flooded. Today, it is South and Central Mumbai facing the brunt of the BMC being controlled by bjp and corrupt mind."

He also visited Worli metro station, which was flooded following the rains. Slamming the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he alleged that money of Mumbaikars was being misused and no civic work seems to be carried out.

The city witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday, marking the onset of the monsoon.

According to data from the Colaba recorded significant rainfall of 144.3 mm, while the Santacruz received  74.3 mm of rainfall. The municipal rain gauges indicated average rainfall figures of 58 mm in the city, 20 mm in eastern suburbs, and 15 mm in the western suburbs. The rain also gave some respite from the heat. Colaba recorded maximum temperatures of 26.4 degrees Celsius, whereas Santacruz recorded maximum temperatures of 28.7 degrees Celsius.
