Maratha quota leader Manoj Jarange on Monday asked protesters to follow the directives of the Bombay High Court and not inconvenience the people of Mumbai by roaming on the streets. A delegation representing the Maratha quota protesters at Azad Maidan met Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani on Monday evening to discuss civic services and facilities required by them. The agitation, demanding reservation for the Maratha community, has been underway outside the BMC headquarters since Friday. Speaking on behalf of the BMC administration, Gagrani assured that the suggestions and demands raised by the delegation would be duly considered, and necessary action would be taken as required.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said his administration will implement the HC directives on the Maratha quota protest and added the Mahayuti government is deliberating on finding legal options to resolve the standoff. In a related development, Cabinet minister Chhagan Bhujbal, a prominent OBC leader, said Marathas should not be accommodated in the quota for the Other Backward Classes, citing only 17 per cent reservation is available for 374 communities under the grouping in the state.
