The blaze erupted at around 1 pm in the building located on Chakala Street in Masjid area.

The fire was confined to the third and fourth floors of Vishvamangala Housing Society, the official said.

After receiving information, police and fire brigade personnel reportedly rushed to the site and started the rescue and fire-fighting operation, he said.

No person was reported to be injured or dead so far. The officials added that the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

Recently, a fire broke out in the 62-storey residential building in Mumbai's Byculla area wherein a 57-year-old man was injured while 25 to 30 persons had to be rescued.

Meanwhile, in the adjoining Thane district, just 20 days after a blast occurred in Dombivli MIDC claiming eight lives, explosions were witnessed after a fire broke out at the same spot on Wednesday morning.
