The annual conference, organised by Sunni Dawate Islami, covered diverse topics such as nation building, women's education, career guidance, the history of Islam, and, reflecting the times, a session on social and religious responsibilities

The discussions this year included an important subjects including women's entitlement to their husband's and father's property

On the inaugural day of the three-day Sunni Ijtema at Azad Maidan, a staggering number of over one lakh women participated. This religious gathering, reportedly stands as the largest assembly of Sunni Muslims in India

The Friday event, exclusively dedicated to women, commenced at 3 pm with a Quran recitation and an opening prayer led by Sayyed Moin Ashraf

Subsequently, Mufti Nizamuddin Sahad, the head of the fatwa department at Islamic University Ashrafiya Mubarakpur, had conducted a session on 'women's entitlement in their father's and husband's property

Over 400 buses were engaged to bring the audience to the meeting. Around 1000 female and 1500 male volunteers managed the arrangements

Apart from metal detectors, there were 500 'wazukhanas' for members of the audience to perform ritual ablution before prayers

Like most years, the event featured Islamic scholars from abroad, including speakers from the World Islamic Mission, based in London

A meeting on career guidance, higher education were also scheduled. The daily programmes ends in a collective prayer for global peace
