The notice board at Dadar Kabutarkhana was put up a day after the Bombay High Court (HC) said it had not passed any order directing the closure of 'kabutarkhanas (pigeon-feeding spots)’ in the city.
The notice board, which has been put up at the Kabutarkhana, notifies that a fine will be imposed if anyone is found feeding the pigeons around the locality.
The judges of the Bombay High Court noted that human health is of paramount importance and concern, and that they would consider appointing a committee of experts to study the issue and submit recommendations to the government about the Kabutar feeding issue.
Earlier on Wednesday, members of the Jain community and locals tore the tarpaulin off the tent that had been placed over the kabutarkhana.
Although the protest was called off in some hours, BMC has been strict about the pigeon issue and has urged the citizens not to feed them.
