Visuals from Kandivali station surfaced which showed commuters struggling to board trains due to the overcrowding.

The disruption followed WR's announcement stating over 175 service cancellations over the week till October 4 due to the addition of the sixth line.

The WR had also said that the trains will run at a slow pace between Ram Mandir Road and Malad stations on all four existing lines.

A spokesperson from WR earlier said that from Monday morning, due to work on ongoing fifth and sixth lines, a speed restriction will be imposed.

Officials further stated that the speed restrictions will be relaxed in a phased manner by October 4 and until then due to the restrictions, they have cancelled services.

WR has also cancelled morning Goregaon fast local trains and it further announced that Churchgate-bound fast trains will now arrive at Platform no 3--which was rechristened as the fourth platform, at Malad.

Due to the unavailability of the Goregaon loop—a low-speed track section where trains are parked—all four fast Goregaon morning services will remain cancelled, the WR spokesperson said.
