On Wednesday, ED conducted a raid at Vijayan's rented residence in Thiruvananthapuram. The Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly alleged that the central agency was increasingly being deployed as a political tool to target rivals of the BJP government at the Centre

The case stems from an Income Tax Department raid conducted at Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) in January 2019, during which alleged fake expenditure entries worth nearly Rs 130 crore were detected. The company subsequently admitted to the irregularities before the Income Tax Settlement Commission

During the protest, CPM Mumbai District Committee members held placards and banners demanding an end to what they describe as suppression of dissent through investigative agencies.
