Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray are leading a joint protest march in Mumbai on Sunday against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The parties have alleged irregularities in the electoral process and demanded his resignation.

The demonstration is aimed at protesting alleged voter-list manipulation and structural irregularities linked to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

On Saturday, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS accused the Election Commission of deceiving voters and functioning as an extended wing of the ruling party at the Centre.

While the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) are leading the organisational efforts for the demonstration, the leaders have emphasised that the protest goes beyond partisan politics.

The organisers have described the rally as a mass public movement and said they plan to engage with political parties across the spectrum to build a united opposition front.

"This is a rally of the people. To ensure it does not remain confined to a single party but becomes the collective voice of the entire political system and the citizenry, we will reach out to all political parties to join this front," the statement read.

The statement described the agitation as a decisive battle to safeguard the country’s democratic framework and institutional integrity.
