The accident was reported around 10.45 am, and all the seven injured were taken to Sion Hospital, where one was declared brought dead. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash

As per information received from Dr Randhir, Assistant Medical Officer (AMO), Sion Hospital, a biker aged 28 was declared brought dead on arrival

Another biker, Vrishabh Gupta (22), is admitted in a critical condition. The other injured are in stable condition. They have been identified as Amit Mhatre (41), a pedestrian; BEST inspectors Mahesh Doiphode (50) and Satish Waghambare (48); bus conductor Rajendra Pelekar (57), and driver Vikas Padare (42)

The bus driver has been taken into custody, officials said

Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, and an investigation is expected to follow

The incident has once again brought attention to growing concerns over road safety in the city. Mumbaikars are forced to live with constant risks, fires in residential buildings, collapsing structures, infrastructure failures, open manholes during the monsoon and roads riddled with hazards

The rising number of accidents involving BEST buses has only deepened these concerns. Pedestrians, motorists and commuters alike are increasingly wary of sharing the road with buses that seem to be involved in accidents with disturbing regularity
