Ashadhi Ekadashi marks the culmination of the annual Wari pilgrimage, during which lakhs of Warkaris walk to Pandharpur to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal, continuing a centuries-old spiritual tradition.

During the prayers, Fadnavis sought blessings for Maharashtra's peace, prosperity and happiness, the welfare of farmers, and success for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives aimed at creating new opportunities for India's youth.

The chief minister said he prayed for the aspirations of every young man and woman to be fulfilled, helping realise the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" through greater opportunities and development.

Fadnavis felicitated Warkari couple Balasaheb Mane and Prabhavati Mane, presenting them with the Shri Vitthal Nirmal Dindi Award 2026 in recognition of their contribution to the annual pilgrimage.

According to Fadnavis, this year's Wari witnessed a record turnout, with devotees standing in queues stretching over 25 kilometres, while the administration ensured smooth arrangements for pilgrims.

Describing the Wari as a unique spiritual gathering, Fadnavis said there is no other celebration in the world where lakhs of devotees walk to seek Lord Vitthal's blessings without any formal invitation.

The chief minister reiterated that work on the proposed Pandharpur temple corridor will begin this year, aiming to improve infrastructure and make darshan more convenient and efficient for the growing number of devotees.

Fadnavis said the Maharashtra government's recent farm loan waiver and free electricity decisions for farmers were taken in the spirit of serving the Warkaris, describing such service as devotion to Lord Vitthal.
