Large, beautifully crafted idols were carefully carried in processions through the streets, accompanied by chants, drums, and music
Devotees thronged the area, capturing the vibrant sights and sounds on their cameras and smartphones, eager to be part of this time-honoured ritual
The larger idols, symbolic of the grandeur of the festival, were taken to the sea for immersion. Special arrangements were made to ensure a smooth and safe journey for the idols, with volunteers and authorities coordinating the process
Boats and barges were used to transport the heavy idols to the sea, making the spectacle not just a religious event but also a visual delight for the onlookers
Meanwhile, the smaller idols, often brought home by families or made by local artisans, were immersed in an artificial pond constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) within the park
On Sunday, the 11th day of Ganesh idol immersion, a total of 36,632 idols were immersed across Mumbai till 6 am
