Amid the colonial-era buildings and Art Deco landmarks of South Mumbai’s Fort district, Fortcha Raja has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi since 1962.

Over the decades, the mandal has become known for its elaborate pandals and changing themes inspired by history, architecture and Indian culture.

Also known as Icchapurti Ganpati, Fortcha Raja draws devotees and visitors keen to experience Mumbai’s festive traditions against the backdrop of the city’s historic Fort neighbourhood. The idol is traditionally around 10 to 12 feet tall, while the pandal décor and seating arrangements take on a new theme each year.

During Ganeshotsav 2026, the mandal once again adds to the festive landscape of Fort, bringing together the area’s historic character, elaborate decorations and the colour and activity of the 10-day celebration.

Ganeshotsav 2026 begins with Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday, September 14, and concludes with the final immersion on Anant Chaturdashi on Friday, September 25.
