Among the many mandals that make Khetwadi a major attraction during the 10-day festival, the Khetwadi 11th Galli Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal holds a special place. Established in 1962, the mandal is celebrating its 65th year of festivities in 2026.

The highlight this year is the imposing 40-foot idol of ‘Mumbaicha Maharaja’, popularly known as ‘Khetwadi Cha Lambodara’.

Khetwadi has long been associated with Mumbai’s grand Ganeshotsav celebrations. The area is particularly known for its narrow lanes, where several Ganesh mandals set up magnificent idols and pandals, often incorporating elaborate designs and innovative themes.

The festive atmosphere in Khetwadi comes alive as devotees make their way through the lanes to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The scale and artistry of the idols, combined with the detailed pandal decorations, make the neighbourhood a popular destination for Ganeshotsav enthusiasts.

With its 40-foot Mumbaicha Maharaja, the Khetwadi 11th Galli Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal is once again set to be among the key attractions of Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav celebrations.
